PROJECT GOAL

Monthy design of stunning theme-based templates and assets enabling subscribers to enhance the presentation of their photos and videos. On-going support of marketing and promotions. 

MY ROLE

As the lead designer embedded within the marketing group, I designed theme based, templatized assets (ie. calendars, slideshows, collages, scrapbook pages, albums, cards, and more) which were integrated into the software and available to paid subscribers online. I also supported the marketing and promotion of these consumber-friendly photo and video editing tools via the design of email offers, in-product banner ads, welcome screens, landing page, and more).

Outcomes and Lessons:
This was an intensive three years of very focused visual design for me. I learned so much about what I thought were the boundaries of my creativity and how to push beyond them:

  • Adobe had a policy of only using employee submitted photography for all assets. It was a challenge to only work with amateur level submissions, but became a challenge which stretched my abilities

  • As this was still the day of box-on-the-shelf packaging, I was able to work with outside agencies who created packaging art, which I could then leverage for multi-purpose needs

  • Product design and marketing design can sometimes be opposing forces

  • Flexibility and the ability to accommodate the rapid changing needs of a business unit can be a true asset to an organization
